Smooth Travel Exposure

At the end of every financial year, RCAs are expected to generate a STE report xlsx in the first half of July and attach the xlsx to their Annual Achievement Return to NZTA.  

From 2025/26 onwards, RCAs will generate the NZTA STE report xlsx from Transport Insights rather than from AWM.

Transport Insights automatically generates the STE results when an RCA runs an import from AWM around the end of the financial year.

Please ensure an up-to-date import has been run for the latest year before you extract the results. If you make any changes in AWM, you need to arrange a new import to see those results in the Regulatory STE page.

The Import History page shows the dates of the recent imports.

Once an import has been run, log into Transport Insights and click on the Performance > Regulatory menu item.

Make sure the correct RCA and Year are showing in the orange bar, change them if needed.

Then click the Smooth Travel Exposure tile to see the calculated results.

To download the xlsx, click the download icon at the top right immediately below your login name.

Once the xlsx file has downloaded, attach the file to your Annual Achievement Return.

If you need to make changes in AWM because the results in the file are not as expected, you need to schedule another import once the AWM changes are made.
