The Road Efficiency Group has developed Transport Insights to provide analytics on the performance of the transport sector in New Zealand, by consolidating roading, financial and other statistical information from a range of sources.

Transport Insights provides a wide range of trend and comparative analysis for Road Controlling Authorities (RCA)  including State Highways, plus regions and National.

The Transport Insights home page provides direct links to three key reporting areas: the Performance Dashboard, ONF Reporting, and the Data Quality Dashboard.


The home page also displays

  • Direct links to this page and The Basics help page
  • Coming soon - upcoming deadlines and changes for users of Transport Insights
  • Latest updates - recent features added or updated in Transport Insights
  • Did you know? - hints on using the system

The header section of the site has

  • The RCA or region network that information shows for. You can switch between networks on the home page or when you are in the dashboards. In some pages you can also select a reporting year
  • A sidebar toggle to collapse the menu to just show icons or expand to show the full text menu
  • A Search option to look for information in the site about topics
  • A Sign In link to gain access to more menu options

The footer section contains links for

  • Information about the Road Efficiency Group
  • Contact information
  • A Disclaimer on the use of the information provided in the site
  • A Privacy statement on information held within Transport Insights
  • A link to the library of REG newsletters

Within Transport Insights you will find extensive analysis for any RCA via the menu on the left:

  • An RCA Performance Dashboard showing a range of performance indicators for all RCAs.
  • One Network Road Classification (ONRC) performance measure reports.
  • One Network Framework (ONF) performance measure pages.
  • ONRC and ONF Network Characteristics reports, showing breakdowns of your selected network.
  • Data Quality results for RCAs
  • Help & Support screens to show you how to make the most out of Transport Insights.
